Grand Teton National Park
Wyoming, USA
You never can quite predict what you will encounter when out in the field, and It’s my favorite reason to photograph in the greater Yellowstone ecosystem. With it’s diverse landscapes, weather patterns, and ecosystem, you never what’s around the corner. This particular morning was planned as a sunrise photograph over the famous beaver ponds in the Tetons. My father-in-law, Doug, was with me on this trip and was taking photos about 50 yrds away from me. As I’m awaiting the first light to strike the scene unfolding in front of me, I see Doug hurrying towards me. Trying not to draw attention, he came right up behind me & slowly whispered in my ear, “Big. Bull. Moose.” I knew by the tone in his voice that this moose had to be huge! So, I had a choice to make. I could stay & shoot this sunrise reflection or I could go for the moose. I had to choose the moose - the peaks would be there tomorrow!
